Parish Priest

Fr Phillip Hicks msc is our parish priest here at St Brigid's and was born in 1945, he is the eldest of seven children.  The Family lived firstly in Cammeray and then from 1949 until 1984 in Mowbray road, Willoughby. He went as a small boy to Loreto, Kirribilli and then to St. Aloysuis College at Milson's Point. Fr Phil joined the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in their novitiate at Douglas Park in January 1963. He studied in Canberra and Melbourne and was ordained priest in OLSH Church, Randwick in May 1973, with Fr Bob Irwin. He has been in 5 MSC Colleges in Australia, including many leadership roles, and 13 years in Papua New Guinea, mainly in formation of young men for priesthood.  In 2003 Fr Phil returned to Sydney and was at Willoughby from 2005 to 2014. He has been involved as a formator for MSC aspirants for priesthood for over 20 years, and is delighted to now be parish priest of St. Brigid's Coogee.

He is a supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitos in NRL ( since the demise of the North Sydney Bears!), and Collingwood in the AFL.
